Let's make this clear - I loved this book from the beginning, read it at least twice. I managed to snag this on audio too and I have to say the narrators truly did an amazing job taking these characters to a new level. It's told in dual POV and narrated the same in audio which I love. Caveman is a standalone with its own HEA but characters do cross over from other of Jo's books. But before they can can heal those inner wounds, danger lurks around the corner threatening everyone's safety. But then she gets glimpses of the pain within him and starts to see him in a different light. She's in need of a job to help out her family and will even endure Matt's rudeness to keep it. Octavia is one determined girl when it comes to do what needs to be done. The suspense just kept on building as I kept turning the pages and kept me glued. Jo Raven didn't disappoint in the least with Caveman! Not only is he a single dad to two adorable cuties, but a redeemable jack ass too. One thing I love is a good single dad romance.

I would have waited until it went on sale. Truthfully I probably wouldn't have spent a credit on this book had I'd known all this ahead of time. That's the driving force for hoping her and Matt get together. The kids are so sweet and want that mother figure in their lives so bad it breaks your heart. The best things about this book for me are the kids and the narration. It feels like Matt was just wanting a "wife fill in". The fact that she's so pure and nieve, tge possibility of hooking up with an old dad just doesn't seem sexy to me. For a while the only thing going on is Matt being rude with a bunch of angst between them. Matt is a 30 year old super grouch and Octavia is an 18 year old virgin. It sounds like the story would get really hot and sexy after this point, but unfortunately it doesn't. When he sees the bullies in town giving her a hard time during her job search, he speaks up and hires her.

Sounds like a great match for Matt right? Matt, who's still grieving the loss of his wife, thinks Octavia reminds him of his wife too much to be around so he doesn't hire her. She's helped raise her siblings while her mom worked to support a household without a dad. Long time resident Octavia just happens to be looking for work. When he starts working as a mechanic, a nanny becomes necessary. Matt's a sexy single dad who moves his kids to a new town after the death of his wife. Not the worst story I've ever heard, but certainly not the best.
